Uh Oh

My youngest daycare child went to the hospital yesterday evening with severe pneumonia. She didn't come to daycare yesterday, but stayed home with her mom, and mom took her to the clinic and then she went by ambulance to the hospital. Poor wee thing! If you pray, pray for a quick healing with no complications.

Two Front Teeth

This morning, one of the day care kids was coming up to the front door with her mom, and she tripped (over her flip flops I think) and bashed her mouth on the step. Lo and behold, she knocked her two front teeth out! Her mom whisked her off to the dentist. There is nothing to do but wait for her adult teeth to grow in, and that will be about three years or so! Can you imagine!? I am glad that the girl was in the care of her mother at the moment, and not in my care. I feel so sorry for her. She was amazingly brave! Seriously, I am amazed how calm she was. I was proud of her!

Look what Cory did!

Cory took this photo of the daycare kids. He didn't tell them to look scowly or to pose or anything. This is just how they looked at that moment. He only took one photo and this is what came out! As soon as he saw it, it reminded him of an album cover, and so he made up a name for them. I think this is hilarious! It sure kept me laughing yesterday! The daycare parents think it is priceless!

A Trip to the Library

Yesterday I had the brilliant idea to take the day care kids to the library! By the time the last child arrived, it was 10:30am, and it took us another twenty minutes to get out the door. Off we go, two in the stroller with the three bigger ones walking. The walk there wasn't so bad, but the walkers were tired by the time we arrived. We stopped in the shade and had a drink before we went in. Inside, the kids were great. They each picked two books to take back to my house, and I picked some for them too. Then we read a story. We stopped at the family washroom for a pee break and then headed out to the playground. It was noon by this time, and we had a long walk home. So I told them we would walk for a bit and stop at another playground for a break. Whew! It was 1:00pm by the time we got home and we all were tuckered out. We had a quick lunch and then off to bed. One girl had an earache all through naptime and afterwards, she seemed really sick, and I was worried that I had given her heat stroke or something. But all the kids had hats and sunscreen, and we had plenty of water. All the other kids were acting fine. When this girl's parents came in the door she just had a meltdown, so I worried all night about her. This morning , however, she is back to normal! I will not be taking the kids to the library for a long time again. It is just too far. And I think getting on the bus with five kids and a double stoller would be just waaaaaay to hard! So we will stick with trips to our closest park for now, and I'll continue to head to the library myself for our story time books.

Coughing

This is what is happening in my household! The daycare kids, us, the daycare parents. I am sure the mail man is coughing just from coming to our front door. Try keeping three three year olds and two one years olds from putting toys in their mouths and wiping their noses on their hands. I feel like my house is floating in phlegm and mucus! I should by shares in Lysol.
I can't wait until spring when we can play outside day after day and keep the germs outside!

I have a problem with our cultural rule of covering your mouth when you cough! Cover your mouth with your hand and cough all those germs onto your hand and then touch stuff! What is that? Now I am not for coughing in anyone's face either, but maybe direct your mouth down ward or tuck your mouth in your shirt or something, but don't cough in your hand unless you can wash it immediately. I HATE touching public doorhandles and shopping carts and anything else that someone else has touched. I am seriously turning into a real germophobe! I am gonna get me a big ol' jar of that antibacterial gel stuff and carry it with me every where.

Thursday

This morning, the kids and I are will be off to playgroup. It is at a local church... two hours of thirty plus kids and their caregivers in a big room with lots of toys. I have only been once before and I found it stressful trying to keep track of my four kids. But I will try again. Maybe it will get better. I am feeling pressure from one of my families to go, and I am perhaps a little resentful. But on the other hand, it is a fun change of pace for the kids. We went last week on Thursday, and on Monday, all the kids had colds, so I am wondering if they caught it there. I don't want to have sick kids all the time. Well, I am just hoping that I like it better today. Then we come home and eat lunch, and then it is naptime and the kids sleep well since they have been so busy! So that part is nice.

Tuesday

I had a good day today. The kids were well-behaved for the most part. I thought I would give you a run down of my day, so you can have an idea of what my days are like.

5:00am - time with my Lord (but it didn't happen this morning)

6:00am - washed, dressed, make coffee and tea, make breakfast for Cory, make hubby's lunch, see Adria out the door, see Cory out the door.

7:15am - vacuumed, double checked that rooms were picked up for daycare mode, got kids' breakfast set out, fed and watered the bird, got some different toys set out to grab the kids' attention when they come in.

7:40am - two sisters arrive in good moods and their mom doesn't seem quite as frazzled as usual, get them started on their breakfast, do some dishes, make oatmeal muffins

8:00am - puzzles, alphabet workbook with one, finger painting, playing with musical instruments

9:00am - another child arrives, I wonder where the fourth one is, outside we go to play in the sandbox, colour with chalk, run races, play with trucks

10:00am - inside to get the kids to go to the toilet, end up in front of the tv for 20 minutes, I get a moment on the computer

10:30am - back outside

11:30am - wondering again where the fouth child is? can't the parents phone me?

11:40am - lunch is served - turkey and cheese sandwiches on whole wheat bread, honeydew melon, carrot sticks. After lunch we make paint stamp pictures, using half an apple as the stamper.

12:40am - naptime! I eat and clean up and get on the computer

3:00pm - I wake kids up! Long sleep today! We have story time (our favourite part of the day)

3:30pm - snack time - oatmeal muffins that I made this morning - kids want seconds!

3:50pm - Adria is home finally! She is late! The bus schedule was a little chaotic apparently. They should have it worked out tomorrow.

4:00pm - outside again with all the backpacks ready for going home time!

5:10pm - last child leaves - the fourth one never did get here today! Clean up outside. Come in and talk to Adria about her first day of school. Look at the mess all around and wish I didn't have to deal with it. Get up and look at my list of things to do, and start at the top and work down. Doesn't take nearly as long as I thought. I am back in control!

6:00pm - Adria and I have peanut butter and banana wraps for supper. Cory is at a meeting where they will provide supper. It is nice not having to cook. Now I will continue on with my evening routine and start the whole thing over again tomorrow!
